instructions below are guidelines for the lawn’s establishment period; based on manual watering techniques. Thank you again and enjoy your new lawn.
How To Take Care Of Your Sod:

Watering you new sod must begin immediately after installation. Once an area is large enough,
use a sprinkler to water the newly laid sod.
If your new sod dries out accidentally, it will turn
brown. This does not means its dead; with proper
watering applications, it should green up in a week
or two.
During the first application of water, a recommended watering amount is 1 inch to thoroughly
soak the sod and soil below the sod. Pay special attention to corners and edges; they will dry out
sooner and are harder to water properly.

After the initial watering, water your sod enough to keep the soil underneath moist; but not
muddy. In hot weather, you may need to water 2x or 3x per day. In cool weather, watering can be
reduced to 1x per day or 1x every other day.
Frequent shallow watering sessions are not good
for your new sod.; this causes roots to grow near
the surface and not into the soil underneath.
Water less often but more deeply. Over time, the roots will follow the water down into the soil.
This results in a lush, healthy lawn.

In 7 – 10 days, the sod begins to ‘knit’ to the soil underneath and watering frequency can be
reduced; depending on the weather.
Basic mowing rule: Never remove more than 1/3 of
the leaf blade when mowing.
Mow your sod every 7 – 10 days; after installation. With your first mowing, let the lawn dry out for
a day so it can firm up prior to running heavy mowers over it.
For best appearances and better disease resistance,
make sure your mower blades are sharp.
